Ford has won a contract to supply 130 cars to support services company Daniel Contractors, which believes the US carmaker can help reduce the fuel consumption and environmental impact of its fleet.
Daniel, which operates in the utilities, marine, civil engineering and energy sectors in the UK and overseas, chose the Ford Focus and Mondeo models because of their efficient use of fuel, good environmental credentials and low ownership costs.

“By opting for the fuel-efficient 1.6-litre TDCi engine in the Ford Focus and Ford Mondeo, Daniel has made great savings in terms of HMRC's advisory fuel rates,” said Sean Bingham, principal consultant for ERA Fleet Cost Management, who helped Daniel to review the fleet market.

Paul Boulds, head of transport at Daniel, added: “As a responsible business, we were looking for a product that met the high environmental standards we wanted to achieve while also providing Benefit in Kind (BIK) advantages for our employees.
“We spent a considerable amount of time reviewing the market and are delighted to be buying Ford's new 1.6-litre TDCi engines featuring ECOnetic Technology, which will provide the business with a fleet that reduces our carbon footprint and also provides substantial cost savings for our employees and the business as a whole.”
Ford’s ECOnetic Technology covers a range of new developments aimed at reducing CO2 output whilst increasing fuel economy. These technologies include Ford Auto-Start-Stop, Smart Regenerative Charging and Ford's Eco Mode, which monitors gear change, anticipation and overall speed to encourage a more fuel-efficient driving style.
